Woodlander Stud Tops the Charts with Summertime Blues
Eddie Cochran sang the immortal words, “there ain't no cure for the summertime blues”, however Woodlander Stud certainly do not require a cure. Their homebred four year old Stallion, Summertime Blues, has just been placed second at the Stallion Licensing in Hanover making him one of the most highly placed British Bred Stallions of all time.
Summertime Blues is the first approved Hanoverian son of Spoercken, who was sired by the impressive Sir Donnerhall out of a Lauries Crusador dam. The State Stud at Celle was eloquent about his three top gaits and describe him as the new star in the breeding sky.
Dr Ludwig Christmann from the Hannoveraner Verband said “I saw Summertime Blues at the final test, two days ago. When we licensed him in 2014, as a two year old, we were especially impressed with the quality of his gaits. He was very supple and elastic in all three gaits. It was great to see that he confirmed exactly these qualities under saddle as well, combined with very good rideability. He kept his promise.”
Strongly built with great power and long lines, Summertime Blues showed elasticity and expression and Dr Christmann also remarked that he was the image of his great grand dam, the mare St Pr Pikantje who was German National Champion under saddle.
During this top performance, which was over fifty days, Summertime Blues scored over 8 and 9 for temperament and 9.25 from Test Rider Sandra Frieling.
Performance is everywhere in this pedigree. Spoercken achieved a dressage index of 165 in his test. On the dam side, Margue H was twice a Bundecshampionat Finalist and competed successfully at Grand Prix.
Summertime Blues was also the top two year old dressage horse in the Futurity in 2014.
Katy Holder-Vale, Chairman of the British Hanoverian Horse Society said “I first saw this young stallion at licensing and was very impressed with his elegant frame and supple movements. Since then I have judged him at Futurity and he was awarded an Elite status. Great to see him doing so well in the tough arena of the performance test. Yet again, our British Breeders are producing world class young horses. Congratulations to Woodlander Stud.”
