British Hanoverian Horse Society Annual Show 2016
The busy summer show season for the British Hanoverian Horse Society (BHHS) was concluded on the last week of September with the 2016 Annual Show at Keysoe.
The BHHS Committee was joined by the Mr Jürgen Rump and Mr Harmut Wilking from the Hannoveraner Verband for what was a very successful showpiece event. San Floriana (San Amour I x Florestan), bred and owned by Hawtins Stud, was named as this year’s Supreme Champion.
The show, which was held at the College Equestrian Centre at Keysoe ran for two days from Saturday 24th to Sunday 25th September 2016 and saw a large number of entries from across the UK
The weekend started with the presentation of stallions for licensing, followed by a Mare Performance Test. The BHHS are pleased to announce that we now have three new licensed Stallions.
The first stallion to be licensed was GF Deville owned and bred by Glossoms Stud. GF Deville is a beautiful modern stallion with excellent conformation and three outstanding paces. Sandy Senior owner of Glossoms Stud said “Paul and I are delighted that Bertie (GF DeVille) graded with the British Hanoverians. Our DiMaggio x Biotop x Cocktail stallion has a convincing pedigree for dressage which is now seeing him win at Small Tour level & training towards GP, with Dan Greenwood. It is particularly pleasing that he is a British bred, British based stallion that has now been fully approved by Hanover and is an indicator of how British breeding is continuing to improve year on year. Frozen semen will be available from 2017 giving British breeders another option if they do not wish to go down the route of importation of semen from the Continent."
Diaggio (Dimaggio x Florestan), owned by Suzanne Lavandera – UK Hanoverians, was the next stallion to be licensed. This tall, elegant son of Dimaggio has a beautiful head and neck and is strikingly uphill with outstanding paces for international dressage. He is a very exciting addition to the Hanoverian Stallions based in the UK.
The final stallion was the powerful, supple and huge moving Dream Boy who represents new blood for Hanoverian breeders in the UK. Lynne Crowden stated that she was “delighted to announce his approval for international Hanoverian breeding and look forward to good results in his performance test early next year. This is a horse with a temperament to die for and everything a serious dressage breeder could want. “
Two mares, San Floriana and Felicia (Flammengold x Elroon) were awarded Elite Candidate Status following the Mare Performance Test.
Our Youngstock Champion award went to Lynne Crowden’s Solid Gold (Schwarzgold x Wenzel I) with Reserve Champion going to Sugar Pie (Supertramp x Florencio I) bred by Lynne and owned by Debbie Green.
Following our Regional Shows across the UK during the Summer, some of the qualified foals were presented at Keysoe in the Foal Championship. Our Champion Foal for 2016 was Damika (Dimaggio x Rohdiamant) owned and bred by Darren Mattia.
Congratulations to all our competitors, thank you to the Committee for their support and to the volunteers, without whom the show would not function. Thanks also to the College Equestrian centre for their venue.
The British Hanoverian Horse Society would like to thank Dengie, Isle Veterinary Group, Sew Equestrian, Horse Health, Protexin, Peter Vousden, Parkland Stud and Wolds Exclusive Bling for their sponsorship and lovely prize donations.
