Chairman’s Report
The mare performance test and show classes were subject to an outstanding performance by the three year old filly Farouche by Fuerst Heinrich out of the Elite mare Dornroeschen, bred by Lynne Crowden of Woodlander Stud. Farouche has talent and presence and dominated throughout the event. In her performance test, Farouche scored ten for her canter and nines for walk and trot. These were the highest marks given at any BHHS show. Farouche also won the three year old class and then went on to be first the youngstock champion and then ultimately the show’s supreme champion.
Competition was stiff. Fiorenza, bred by Judith Davis of Hawtins Stud, won the four year old class and then took the accolade of champion mare. Fiorenza, with her dam and three year old half-sister, went on to win the family class.
The foal show champion was Quantum of Solace by Quarterback exhibited by Nicole Williams of Pontypridd, which was later given the reserve overall champion award.
Ten mares emerged from the mare performance test as potential Elite candidates. These were three and four year old mares that had achieved average scores of 7.25 for gaits and rideability for dressage-bred mares or an average of 7.25 for loose jumping and rideablity for jumping-bred mares.
There were awards in the form of 1A premiums for quality horses on 19 occassions.
Many new faces were present at what was a show of good quality of entries, with trophies taken by first time presenters in the show ring in numerous classes.

Class 1: Stallion licensing
One stallion was entered, but was not licenced
Class 2: Colt assessment
Three colts were assessed for their potential to become future licensed stallions.
Class 3: Mare Performance Test
Eighteen mares were presented for the mare performance test and nine achieved the required scores that would make them eligible for the title of Elite Candidate (see Breeding Rules). These mares then went on to the showing classes on Sunday to seek the next element of the qualification criteria, the coveted 1A prize.
The champion of the performance test, and winner of the Lebensmann Trophy presented by Angie Rutherford, was Farouche, owned and bred by Lynne Crowden of Woodlander Stud.
Reserve champion was Ludmilla, owned by Karen Roberts and Annette Britton.
