Young Horse Class Returns for Second Year at Annual Show 2026
The British Hanoverian Horse Society (BHHS) is delighted to announce the return of the Young Horse Class at its Annual Show, taking place on 27–28 August 2026.
Following a highly successful debut last year, the class will once again form a key part of the show schedule, offering an exciting and progressive platform for young horses.
The Young Horse Class will feature a series of age-specific tests designed to align with the ridden section requirements of the Mare Performance Test (MPT). Open to eligible mares, geldings, and stallions aged 4, 5, and 6 years, the class provides a valuable opportunity to showcase young talent in a structured and supportive environment.
The format will mirror that of the British Dressage Young Horse Championship qualifiers, with two horses in the arena at a time, ensuring a professional and familiar experience for competitors.
This year’s event will see an exceptional panel of officials, including Trainer Matt Hicks and Judge Sara-Jane Lanning, who will join International Judge Maren Schlender from the Hannoveraner Verband.
Alongside the Young Horse Class, the BHHS will continue to offer its established Mare Performance Test (MPT) for three – six year old mares.
Mares completing the full MPT will be required to:
- Return to the warm-up arena to be assessed by the test rider
- Undergo Studbook Inspection (if applicable)
The return of the Young Horse Class reflects BHHS’s ongoing commitment to developing young sport horses and providing clear, accessible pathways for breeders, owners, and riders.
