BHHS Show Results 2011

The 21st annual British Hanoverian Horse Society show took place at Addington Equestrian Centre over the weekend of 24 and 25 September.

As a society we have had a fantastic year for British born and bred Hanoverians, with the beautiful Farouche bred by Lynne and Dave Crowden winning the World Breeding Championships for five year olds in Verden. She was our foal champion and mare performance test winner. Also GB branded stallion Deveraux won the Hanoverian championship for four year-old stallions.

On Saturday night we had a demo from Ferdi Eilberg and his family team titled ‘Young horses the stairway to success’. Farouche fascinated with her ability to stay soft and supple and really open out the paces. The spectators all remarked on how consistent, happy and correctly the horses went. Several Hanoverian Stallions were also shown.

We were very fortunate to have Ulriche Hahn and Martin Klintworth from the Verband stallion commission as our judges this year.

The BHHS 2011 Supreme show champion was the six year old mare, Dancing Queen, owned by Nikki Lawton since she was three years old. Dancing Queen qualified for the Shearwater young dressage horse championships at Hartpury both as a four and six year old. She spent last winter training in Holland at academy Bartels with Lisa Marriott, training under Imke and Tineke. She is part-qualified for the 2011 winter regionals at elementary open.

The reserve show champion was Scarlett O’Hara, owned and bred by Sara Williams. Scarlett O’Hara had earlier taken the youngstock championship and won the three year old mare class.

The champion foal was the colt foal champion, Frasier FST, owned by Fay Thomas.

The full report of all the classes is given below. In the breed show on Sunday, the judges only placed the top six horses in each class.

Show Results

Class 1: Stallion licensing

Two of the four stallions presented were licensed. These were the very beautiful two year old Supertramp by Soliman de Hus (Sandro Hit) out of a State premium mare by Rotspon  (Rubinstein) owned by Lynne Crowden and Katy Holder-Vale’s Flammengold by Florestan/ Prademarche. Flammengold is a successful dressage horse which had been licensed by three other German breed societies. He is the sire of Paul Haylers Fabioso who has already won at Intermediare internationally and placed in his first Grand Prix.

Class 2: Colt assessment

Three colts were assessed for their potential to become future licensed stallions.

Class 3: Mare Performance Test

Ten mares were presented for the mare performance test and two achieved the required scores that would make them eligible for the title of Elite Candidate (see Breeding Rules).

The champion of the performance test, and winner of the Lebensmann Trophy presented by Angie Rutherford, was Lady Equites, owned and bred by Vanessa Vernon.
