Swanmore Dantina
Our British Hanoverian Mare of the Year is Swanmore Dantina who is owned by Sadie Smith and Steve Readings. She is by Dante Weltino out of the mare, Charatana who is by Charatan out of Donna Faye. Dantina was bred at Swanmore Stud by Ben St John James and Roland Tong.
Dantina’s dam line combines the Trakahner blood of Consul with a solid foundation of Donnerhall and Weltmeyer. Consul provided the much-needed refinement by adding Thoroughbred blood through his Thoroughbred father. The dam line has produced 3 stallions including Benvenuto by Breitling, bred by Christian Heinrich , a long term supporter of British breeding and several International Grand Prix horses such as Burlington W , Barnsby and Belcanto.
Dante Weltino ridden by Therese Nilshagan, is a very successful competition stallion by Danone, who is just completing 8 years successfully at International Grand Prix level and has just competed at the Paris Olympics at the age of 17 years old.
Swanmore Dantina’s pedigree represents the best of sports horse breeding combining longevity and resilience and movement required for the top of the sport. Sadie has produced her mare from a young horse to compete and represent our stud book in Ermelo at the 7-year-old World Breeding Championships in 2022. She has subsequently gone on to win many titles and has recently won at FEI Inter II at Wellington Premier League this year.
